Union Hall Cork
The fishing village of Union Hall is nestled in a sheltered corner at the upper end of Glandore Harbour,
amidst the spectacular scenery of the West Cork coastline.
Maintaining its tradition over the centuries, Union Hall has a proud connection with the sea and fishing
is major local industry. Its magnificent new pier is a boost to all boat users. The waters off Union Hall
and Glandore are clean and unspoilt and ideal for sea angling. The area is well sheltered from the prevailing
westerly winds, thereby ensuring a mild climate and abundant fish life.
The village is surrounded by extensive woodland, and connected by a bridge across Glandore Harbour for easy
access to neighboring towns of Leap and Glandore.
Dean Swift the famous Irish writer lived here at Rock Cottage in 1723.
His poem "Caberiae Rupes", was written here. Union Hall was the location for David Puttnam's film
"War of the Buttons".
There is a post office, shops, restaurants, pubs and churches conveniently located in the village,
all a short walk from Pier Holiday Homes.
The village recently opened its new community centre, which is often home to dances, music performances,
sporting events and other social occasions.
Union Hall sits in an ideal location, off the beaten path near to many of your quieter pursuits,
while smack in the middle of West Cork, when you want to visit the busier parts of the county with its
large variety of activities and events catering for visitors and locals alike.
